Ghana’s national men tennis team, the Golden Rackets are in Rwanda for the African Zone IV Davis Cup tournament.
The four-day event starts today (Wednesday), July 26 and will end on Saturday, July 29 in Kigali.
Ghana’s is being represented by five players as the Golden Rackets seeks to secure promotion from African Zone IV in the Davis Cup competition.
Team Ghana has three foreign players, Abraham Asaba, Isaac Nortey and Herman Abban all from the United States and two locally based players, Samuel Antwi and Desmond Ayaaba.
The team captain of the team is Frederick Egyir who also doubles as the coach.
Other teams competing in Rwanda, are Angola, Botswana, Cameroon, Kenya, Nigeria and Mozambique.
The eight nations have been grouped in two pools of four, and will play in a league format.
The top three teams in each group will cross over in a promotional play-off and two will be promoted.
The bottom two in each group will be engaged in a relegation play-off with the last two after the league format being relegated.
