Record Ghana champions Asante Kotoko have agreed to transfer club captain Richard Boadu to Libyan side Al Ahly SC on a permanent basis.
The Porcupines, have reached an agreement with the Libyan side for Boadu, who rejoined the club from current Ghana champions Medeama SC two seasons ago.
Al Ahly SC, are expected to confirm the signing of the midfielder after his medicals.
Boadu, began his football career with Asante Kotoko’s youth side before rejoining the club in September 2021.
He helped the Garden City club win the Ghana Premier League title in the 2021/2022 season.
Boadu was named club captain at the start of the 2022–2023 season, as they struggled to defend the title they won the previous season, eventually finishing fourth at the end of the campaign.
He scored two goals with five assists and eight man of the match awards last season with the club.
Asante Kotoko has released a statement, thanking Richard Boadu for his contribution to the club’s recent successes and the professionalism he showed during his time with the Porcupines and wished him the very best in this new chapter of his career.
