Record winners of the Ghanaian top-flight league Asante Kotoko have endured a tough start to the season, with pressure mounting on coach Prosper Nartey Ogum to turn things around quickly.
The Porcupines, are winless in their opening three games of the 2023/24 season, with two drawn games and a loss to show for.
Asante Kotoko, has scored just two goals in 270 minutes of football played this season, and has conceded three.
Ironically, their two drawn games, have both been home encounters at the Baba Yara Stadium, Kumasi which used to be a fortress for visiting teams.
Coach Ogum, has called for patience from the Kotoko faithful as he looks to improve on the performance of the team, insisting that the team will come good going forward.
Patience for success, has however never been welcomed by fans of the club who have clamoured for the ultimate at anytime.
Kotoko’s tough start to the season, could be continued this weekend as the Matchday Four fixtures are cleared as they visit the capital.
The Porcupines, will be up against Accra Lions at the Accra Sports Stadium next week Monday in a game they will be second favourites to win on current form.
Accra Lions, are one of four sides unbeaten in the campaign so far, as they sit in fourth position with a win and two drawn games.
With Kotoko’s current situation, the capital club will fancy their chances of getting a first ever win in this fixture since they became a top-flight side in Ghana.
Coach Ogum and his charges, will look to reset their settings for the reminder of the campaign which from all indications, will be a stern examination of their credentials.
Nothing but a win on Monday, will not go down well with their followers, and should that happen, some explanations would be demanded from Coach Ogum, and whether his second stint with the club was called for even at this early stage of the campaign.
