In a heartbreaking incident, Ghanaian footballer Raphael Dwamena collapsed during a league game in Albania between FK Egnatia and KF Partinzani. Rushed to Kavaja Hospital, doctors recount their efforts to save the 28-year-old, revealing he arrived in a critical condition.
“The patient came to the Kavaja hospital in the ‘black code,’ that is, he had exitus (medical term for death),” said one of the doctors. Despite swift response and necessary first aid, Dwamena, who had experienced two prior cardiac arrests, couldn’t be revived.
“The forensic medicine has the last word,” stated the doctor, highlighting the need for a thorough investigation. While acknowledging prompt assistance on the field, the medical team expressed the complexity of the situation: “He arrived without vital parameters.”
