William Amponsah has broken his own national 5000m athletics indoor record at a meet in the United States.
The 24-year old, has set a new record of 13:40.16, at the 2024 BU David Hemery Valentine Invitational Boston University Track & Tennis Center.
He finished 32nd in a strong field with the race won by Ahmed Muhumed of the United States with in a time of 13:19:99.
Amponsah, will look to build on this performance going forward as he aims to make a breakthrough on the international space.
He will be a part of the Ghana team that will compete at the upcoming Africa Games in Accra next month.
The Ghana athletics team, will look to win as many medals as possible as the nation hosts the rest of the continent for the first time.
