Ghana’s sole representative at the 2024 Olympic Games Qualifiers in Italy, Theophilus Kpakpo Allotey, known as Theo Lopez, fell short of his Olympic aspirations after facing defeat against his Korean counterpart, Inkyu Kim, in a closely contested bout decided by a 2-3 split decision.
The loss denied Allotey a spot in the quarterfinals, effectively eliminating him from contention at the ongoing WQT Boxing Road to @Paris2024 event in Busto Arsizio, Italy.
Ben Quartey, President of the Ghana Boxing Federation, expressed the grueling nature of the tournament, citing the formidable competition posed by boxers from Asian countries. Despite Allotey’s best efforts, the strength and skill of his opponents proved insurmountable.
