Asante Kotoko Sporting Club continues their uninspiring performance in the second round of the Ghana Premier League with a loss at home against Accra Lions Football Club in week 22 in a highly entertaining game that produced five goals.
Accra Lions Football Club, the away side shocked the home team with an early goal in the tenth minute through Blessing Asuman Dankwah after a quick counter.
The game was delayed for about ten minutes due to low current at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium which caused two of the four floodlights poles off. The problem was fixed and the game continued.
In the twenty-first minute, Asante Kotoko Sporting Club got their leveler through Kalo Ouattara after Nurudeen Yusif’s tailored measured pass located him in the penalty box of Accra Lions Football Club to make it one all. Accra Lions Football Club continued dominating the game and had numerous chances to punish Asante Kotoko Sporting Club before halftime but they were not much clinical upfront in the first half.
Three minutes after recess, Accra Lions Football Club doubled their lead to Blessing Asuman Dankwah to complete his brace on the day. Despite taking the lead, Accra Lions Football Club continued threatening Asante Kotoko Sporting Club with their quick counter break but were wasteful upfront.
In the sixty-eighth minute, Dominic Amponsah made it three for Accra Lions Football Club in Kumasi. The game was full of end-to-end actions but didn’t produce any goal until seventy-sixth-minute substitute Bernard Soumah Sarpong shot outside the 18-yard box beyond the reach of Accra Lions Football Club shot stopper Andrews Owusu to make 2-3.
After five minutes of added time played, Referee Awurisa Andrews blew his whistle for the end of the match.
