The race to gain entry to the Ghana Premier League (GPL) next season, began for 48 clubs over the weekend with some interesting results.
In the 24 matches played, across all three zones in the Access Bank Division One League (DOL), 56 goals were scored nationwide.
The biggest result recorded was in Zone 1A where former Elite Division campaigners Real Tamale United (RTU), beat Wa Sore Nante FC 5-0 at home as they seek a quick return to the GPL after being relegated last season.
Also in the zone, Northern City FC beat Yapei FC 2-0, Wa Power SC beat Walawale Catholic Stars 3-1 with Victory Club Warriors drawing 1-1 with Tamale City FC.
In Zone 1B, Dormaa Unity SC beat Techiman Eleven Wonders 2-0, Wamanafo Mighty Royals accounted for Techiman Liberty Youth 1-0 with the games between Bofoakwa Tano and KAC Soccer Academy and the one between Techiman Heroes and Debibi United, both ending in a stalemate.
The action in Zone 2, saw Soccer Intellectuals beating Skyy FC 3:0, New Edubiase United won 2-0 over Bekwai Heroes, PAC Academy beat Mysterious Dwarfs 4-2 with Elmina Sharks winning 1-0 against Sefwi All Stars.
Also in the zone, King Faisal FC beat Nzema Kotoko 2-1 on the road, Sekondi Rospak FC beat Future Stars FC 1-0, Sekondi Eleven Wise drew 3-3 with Swedru All Blacks with UCC Youngsters drawing goalless with Asekem FC.
The action in Zone 3 saw Accra Great Olympics winning 1-0 Kings Palace FC, Na God FC beat Golden Kick FC 2-1, Nania FC won 1-0 against Kotoku Royals with Rainmasters beating True Democracy FC 4-2 on the road.
Hohoe United won 2-0 away to Akatsi All Stars, Koforidua Sempe-Fi beat Inter Allies 1-0, Okwawu United drew goalless with Home Stars as Port City FC drew 1-1 with Attram De Visser SC.
The season will continue with the Matchday Two fixtures this weekend across all three zones.
