Aduana Stars FC secured their first win of the season with a 2-0 victory over Medeama. The win also condemned the champions to the bottom of the table. Captain Bright Adjei and Gabriel Mensah scored in the second half to seal the win for Aduana Stars.
The home side took the lead four minutes into the second half after Adjei smashed in a close-range shot following a defensive error. With five minutes left on the clock, Mensah added a second goal to secure all three points for Aduana Stars.
Medeama had to make changes to their regular starting lineup due to injuries to key players. As many as six starters were unavailable for the match, including top scorer Jonathan Sowah and wingers Derrick Fordjour and Theophilus Anobah. The absence of these players was evident as Medeama struggled to create goal-scoring opportunities.
Aduana Stars controlled the majority of possession and had several threatening attempts at goal. The dominance of Aduana Stars continued as Medeama failed to secure a win in Dormaa Ahenkro.
The result leaves Medeama at the bottom of the table with just one point from two matches. Aduana Stars will be pleased with their perfect home start to the season.
