The 2024 Ramadan Cup is slated to come off on April 20-21 in Accra after a successful launch of the event on Tuesday.
The two-day competition, will be held at the Fadama Astro Turf in Accra with the tourney held in honour of the National Chief Imam Usmanu Nuhu Sharubutu.
This year’s event, will be the ninth edition since the competition was first held in 2015, and has been held since to mark the end of the Moslem Holy month of Ramadan.
This year’s edition, was launched in Accra on Tuesday with 32 Zongo communities in Ghana scheduled to participate.
Maamobi Zongo, will look to win the tournament for the third time in a roll after winning the last two editions.
Founder and Organizer of the event Tamimu Issah, said, this year’s edition, will be another opportunity to unearth and develop more talents, and urged the participating teams to field their young budding talents.
Maamobi Zongo will open the defence of their title against Kasoa Zongo with the event a straight knock out competition.
The rest of the opening games, will see Madina playing Tudu; Hohoe will face Tuba with Koforidua up against Sabon Zongo.
Salaga will play Suhum; Nungua Zongo faces Ashalley Botwe; Accra New Town plays Fadama with Nima facing Ofie Akwapim Zongo.
New entrants Teshie Zongo, will play fellow newcomers Akweteyman ; Oda Zongo will be up against Alajo; Nsawam will play Anyaa whilst Tunga faces Abeka Zongo.
Akim Aboakwa will play Shukura; Cowlane plays Darkuman; Ashiaman will face Tema with Adabraka playing Kotobabi in the last of the first round matches.
The winners of these encounters, will advance to the next stage of the campaign until a final winner emerges.
