Ghana and Asante Kotoko legend Samuel Opoku Nti said he will be shocked if the Porcupines fails to win next season’s Ghana Premier League title.
Kotoko, last won the diadem in the 2021/2022 campaign, and finished last season sixth in the 18-club league.
However, Opoku Nti said he will be shocked in his former outfit fails to win the upcoming title given the number of quality signings the team have assembled this off season.
Chieftains at the club have handed Coach Prosper Ogum most of the signings he asked for as he seeks to bring back glory days to the Garden City club.
“These days, individual talent and teamwork are crucial, sometimes the coach doesn’t need to give orders, in those situations, you need players who are mature enough to step up and support the team when called upon, and I think that’s what the current Kokoko team has”, The former AFCON winner told Kumasi-based radio station Akoma FM.
He added: “The additions Kotoko has made makes me extremely happy, and if this pattern keeps up, it will be a turning point.”
“Considering Kotoko’s rivals, I’d be shocked if Kotoko do not win the league.”
Asante Kotoko will open their campaign in the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League with an away encounter against Karela United at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium, Tamale on September 6, 2024.
