Accra Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Benjamin Asare said the club’s former players are inspiring them to perform after enduring a difficult start to the season.
The Phobians, lost their opening two games of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League campaign, before bouncing back to win their last encounter last Sunday.
And, Asare said words of encouragement from some former players who visited them in camp, helped turn things around in their last game.
Hearts of Oak beat Bechem United 2-0 in Accra to revive their hopes for the campaign after losing to newly promoted Basake Holy Stars and Heart of Lions in their first two games.
“Our former players did inspire us to put the two defeats behind us and press on for the ultimate, and this helped us to beat Bechem United,” Asare told the local media.
“We will look to build on this performance going forward, and I am confident that success will be ours at the end of the campaign, the former Accra Great Olympics tender added.
Asare, will most likely be in between the sticks on Sunday as Hearts of Oak plays their fourth game of the season.
That will be an away encounter against Nations FC at the Dr Kwame Kyei Sports Complex, Abrankese-Kumasi in a Matchday Four fixture.
Asare and his colleagues, will aim to carry on from were they left off last Sunday against Bechem United as they go for a second straight win at a venue they have never won at in five previous visits.
