Ghanaian super featherweight Alfred Lamptey has flown to Dubai ahead of his July 22 bout with Richard Pumicpic of the Philippines.
Lamptey, who is undefeated in 12 fights as a pro, was accompanied on the trip by trainer Ebenezer Adjei.
The Panthers Gym boxer, is tauted as one of Ghana’s brightest hopes for a world title, and he will expect to win this international 10-rounder against the Filipino.
The 33 year old Pumicpic, has lost 13 of his 2023 bouts, and is not expected to pose much of a threat to the 21-year old Ghanaian.
Lamptey, is also known as the ‘Bukom Bomber’ or ‘Show Time’, and is primed for this upcoming contest.
“I will definitely get the victory,” he said before departing Accra on Tuesday for the bout, insisting that he wants to make his manager, Alex Ntiamoah-Boakye his fans very happy.
The 2021 Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) Boxer of the year, is a multiple title holder in the super featherweight division holding national title and the WBC youth silver title among others.
