The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has responded to an injunction filed by AshantiGold SC seeking to halt the commencement of the 2023/24 league season. AshantiGold secured the court injunction after being suspended from all football activities by the GFA due to their association with banned officials involved in a match-fixing scandal.
In the response, the GFA stated that AshantiGold were not a member of the association at the time the injunction was filed and called for the action to be struck out. Despite the legal challenge, the GFA has stated they remain focused and not worried about the injunction as the league season is set to commence.
The start of the league season was scheduled for Friday, September 15, 2023, but the injunction has put the season in doubt. The GFA has not yet provided further information on the status of the league season and if it will go ahead as planned.
