Elmina Sharks’ Jay Asamoah Kola Banned for Assaulting Referee

The Disciplinary Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has handed a one-year ban to Elmina Sharks FC player, Jay Asamoah Kola, for assaulting a match official during their 1-0 home defeat to Swedru All Blacks United Football Club.

In addition to the player's suspension, Elmina Sharks FC has been fined GHS 20,000. The club has also been ordered to play the remainder of their home matches behind closed doors as further punishment for the incident.

This decision underscores the GFA’s commitment to protecting match officials and maintaining discipline in Ghanaian football.
