E&P Pays First $2M of $5M Pledge to Boost Black Stars’ World Cup Preparations
Engineers & Planners Limited, headline sponsor of Ghana’s senior national team, the Black Stars, has fulfilled part of its financial commitment toward the team’s preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup with an initial payment of $2 million.
The Deputy Minister of Finance, Thomas Nyarko Ampem, disclosed this during a brief presentation ceremony held on Thursday, April 30, 2026. According to him, the amount has been transferred into a dedicated fund established to support the national team’s build-up to the global tournament in the United States.
He described the payment as a symbolic but significant step, highlighting the growing role of private sector partnerships in driving sports development in Ghana.
At the ceremony, Ibrahim Mahama, Chief Executive Officer of Dzata Group Holdings, reiterated his commitment—and that of the wider business community—to supporting national initiatives, especially in sports.
“This is just the beginning of that support to the country, and as time goes on, we will ensure that we redeem the remaining balance that we have promised,” he stated.
Engineers & Planners had earlier pledged a total of $5 million to support the Black Stars, and this first installment signals the start of what is expected to be sustained private sector backing as Ghana intensifies preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The move forms part of broader efforts to mobilise funding beyond government support, ensuring the Black Stars are well-resourced ahead of the tournament.
