BREAKING NEWS: GBA President Abraham Kotei Neequaye Announces Resignation Over Personal Reasons

In a surprising development, the President of the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA), Abraham Kotei Neequaye, has announced his intention to step down from his position, citing personal reasons.

In an official press release dated June 24, 2025, Mr. Neequaye expressed deep regret over the decision but noted that it was necessary at this time for himself and some members of the executive board who uphold integrity and dignity.

“This was a difficult decision to make, but it’s the best course of action for me and some executive board members at this crucial time,” the statement read.

Mr. Neequaye revealed that his final day in office will be Friday, June 27, 2025. He will officially announce his resignation at a press conference scheduled for 10:00 a.m. at the GBA Secretariat.

Reflecting on his tenure, Mr. Neequaye said he was grateful for the opportunity to lead the GBA and acknowledged the valuable lessons he gained, which he believes will guide his future pursuits. He also thanked the media for their support, especially during challenging times marked by personal attacks and character assassination.

“The office doesn’t pay salary or allowance—it’s purely sacrificial work to serve others and one's country. I want to thank fellow compatriots wherever you are for supporting my professional growth,” he added.

The press conference on Friday is open to all media outlets, which are encouraged to attend for firsthand information.
