Ghana Football Association Bans Hohoe United FC for Three Seasons Over League Withdrawal

The Disciplinary Committee of the Ghana Football Association has handed a heavy sanction to Hohoe United FC, imposing a three-season ban following the club’s withdrawal from the Ghana Premier League.

In its ruling, the committee cited a breach of league regulations, describing the club’s withdrawal as a serious violation that undermines the integrity and smooth running of the competition. As part of the punishment, Hohoe United will be barred from participating in all GFA-organized competitions until the end of the 2029/2030 football season.

Beyond the suspension, the club has also been demoted. Upon completion of the ban, Hohoe United will resume competitive football in Division Two under the Greater Accra Regional Football Association, a significant drop from top-flight status.

The decision sends a strong signal from the GFA about its commitment to enforcing discipline and maintaining order within Ghana’s football structure. It also serves as a warning to clubs about the consequences of failing to honor league commitments.

For Hohoe United, the ruling marks a major setback, with the club now facing years outside competitive football and a long road to rebuilding its status within the domestic game.
