GHANA CELEBRATES BLACK QUEENS' HISTORIC WAFCON 2024 BRONZE MEDAL WIN
The Black Queens secured a historic bronze medal at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON). The victory marks a significant milestone for Ghanaian women’s sports, with many supporters’ hopeful that it will lead to increased investment, support, and development of women’s football nationwide.
In a show of national pride, the team visited the Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum today for sightseeing and to learn more about Ghana’s first President’s legacy. The players also paid a courtesy call on Ghana’s Parliament, where they shared their experiences and aspirations.
Additionally, the team is scheduled to present their medal to His H.E the President, John Dramani Mahama, symbolizing their gratitude and representing the nation's collective pride in their accomplishment.
Later this evening, the Black Queens will enjoy a private dinner with Ghana’s Vice President, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku Agyeman, where discussions are expected to focus on the future of women’s sports in Ghana and ways to foster greater support for female athletes.
This milestone victory not only celebrates athletic excellence but also signifies a step forward for gender equality and sports development in Ghana. As the Black Queens continue to inspire, the nation looks forward to a promising future for women’s football.
