Totalsportsghana.com has learned exclusively that a delay in obtaining her passport has sidelined Tottenham Hotspur striker Persis Martha Oteng from participating in Ghana’s upcoming 2024 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup qualifier against Eswatini this Sunday.
Despite her formidable record of five goals in seven matches for Spur’s U21 side this term, the 17-year-old, born in the German town of Oberhausen but residing in England with her parents, requires a Ghanaian passport to be eligible to represent the West African country.
Included among the 25-player roster listed by Black Princesses coach Yusif Basigi for the return leg, Oteng’s absence in this crucial fixture comes as a setback following last week’s impressive performance by the Black Princesses. In the previous encounter, they rallied from behind to secure a commanding 6-1 victory against Eswatini in the third qualifying round’s first leg.
