Medeama SC Gears Up for Clash Against Al Ahly SC in CAF Champions League
Ghana champions, Medeama SC, are set for a thrilling encounter as they prepare to face the very formidable Al Ahly SC of Egypt in a CAF Champions League showdown.
Departing from Ghana for Egypt on Wednesday, the 21-man squad, included notable players Nurudeen Abdulai, Abdul Fatawu Hamidu, and Jonathan Sowah, who all bring experience gained from their recent engagements with the Black Stars in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Sowah, having featured in Ghana’s recent match against Comoros, will join forces with his teammates for the anticipated match at Al-Salam Stadium, Cairo on Saturday night.
Despite the recent setback in the World Cup qualifiers for Ghana, Medeama SC remains confident for this game with the inclusion of Zimbabwean forward Kudakwashe Mahachi, who joined the squad ahead of the current league season.
The departure from the Kotoka International Airport marks Medeama’s first-ever appearance in the group stage of the CAF Champions League.
Their journey to this stage saw them eliminate Guinean giants Horoya AC in the final round of the preliminary stage, setting the stage for their clash with Al Ahly SC, the defending champions and record-winners of the prestigious tournament.
Accompanied by an 11-man technical team, including video analysts, Medeama SC is poised to make a mark on their debut at this level of the competition in Africa.
While facing a formidable opponent in Al Ahly SC, the Ghanaian side remains focused and determined to showcase their prowess on the continental stage this season.
