In a unanimous decision by the Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Mark Addo has been re-elected to serve as Vice President for another term. The announcement follows a nomination made by Dr. Ransford Abbey and seconded by Frederick Acheampong, with all members of the Council voting in favor of retaining Mark Addo in the role.
This re-election aligns with Article 37(3) of the GFA Statutes 2019, which states that “The Vice President of the Executive Council shall be elected from amongst the Members of the Executive Council at its maiden sitting. He shall act in the absence of the President.”
Mark Addo, upon his re-election, expressed his gratitude to the Council for their continued support and trust in his leadership. He called for unity and support from the football community to continue the positive work that has been initiated.
“I am humbled by the gesture from my brother Dr. Randy Abbey and my colleagues that I have worked with for the past four years. I have learned a lot from you, and I know you have also learned a bit from me in our first term,” Vice President Mark Addo expressed.
He acknowledged the challenges faced during his first term but credited the guidance of the President and the collective efforts of the Executive Council for the positive impact made on Ghanaian football. Mark Addo also highlighted the ongoing efforts to elevate Ghanaian football and called for the support of the football community in achieving this goal.
“The reality is that we have made a positive impact in Ghana Football. I will seek your support to back the President so that our football will be among the best, if not the best, in Africa,” Vice President Mark Addo concluded.
Mark Addo’s unanimous re-election signifies the continued commitment of the GFA to building a strong and thriving football ecosystem in Ghana.
