In an exclusive interview with Space FM, the Chief Executive Officer of Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipal, Hon. Benjamin Kessie, emphatically denied any prior Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the National Sports Authority (NSA) concerning the management of the Tarkwa Nsuaem Aboso (TNA) Stadium. He clarified this point regarding the stadium’s future management upon the completion of the project, which is being funded by Gold Fields Foundation.
The statement from Hon. Kessie came in response to growing concerns and reports about a purported agreement between the Municipal Assembly and the NSA for the management of the impressive TNA Stadium. This state-of-the-art facility, with a 10,000-seat capacity, is expected to be completed in March 2024 and will serve as the home ground for the Ghana Premier League champions, Medeama SC.
The Chief Executive Officer asserted that no such agreement had been made between the Municipal Assembly and the National Sports Authority. He clarified that the Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipal Assembly would be the entity responsible for the management of the new stadium upon its completion, in line with their initial plans.
The TNA Stadium, with an estimated cost of $16 million, represents a significant investment in the region’s sports infrastructure and community engagement. It is set to become a key sports venue, not only for Medeama SC but for various sporting interests in Tarkwa and its surrounding areas.
With this statement, Hon. Benjamin Kessie aimed to address the controversies and speculations surrounding the management of the TNA Stadium, ensuring clarity on the matter and reaffirming the Municipal Assembly’s commitment to overseeing the facility.
