Asante Kotoko SC Open Talks with Former Black Stars Coach CK Akonnor
Asante Kotoko SC has initiated preliminary discussions with former Black Stars head coach Charles Kwablan (CK) Akonnor over a potential return to the club as head coach.
The Ghana Premier League giants are in search of a new manager following a string of disappointing performances this season. According to sources close to the club, Akonnor has emerged as a leading candidate due to his prior experience and familiarity with the club’s structure.
CK Akonnor previously managed Kotoko in 2018, leading the team to win the Normalisation Committee Special Competition and secure qualification for the CAF Confederation Cup. His tactical acumen and deep understanding of Ghanaian football make him an appealing option for the Porcupine Warriors.
However, negotiations between both parties are still in the early stages, and no formal agreement has been reached yet. It remains to be seen whether Akonnor will accept the challenge of returning to the Kumasi-based club for a second stint.
As the club continues its rebuilding process, fans will be eagerly monitoring developments, hopeful that a decision is reached soon to stabilize the technical direction of the team.
