Barnieh Scores in FC Aarau Friendly Defeat to FC Thun
Ghanaian forward Daniel Afriyie Barnieh marked his presence for FC Aarau by finding the back of the net in a pre-season friendly against FC Thun.
Barnieh opened the scoring in the 14th minute with a composed finish, giving Aarau an early lead and a promising start to the game. His goal came after a swift attacking build-up, showcasing his sharp movement and eye for goal.
Despite the early advantage, Aarau could not maintain their momentum. FC Thun responded with intensity and gradually took control of the game. Over the extended 120-minute friendly, Thun netted four goals, overturning the deficit and handing Aarau a 4-1 defeat.
The game was arranged as part of both teams' preparations ahead of the upcoming Swiss football season, giving coaches the opportunity to assess squad depth and fitness levels.
Barnieh’s goal, however, was a positive takeaway for Aarau, with the Ghanaian forward continuing to build his sharpness following his move. The 24-year-old will be hoping to carry this form into competitive matches as he seeks to make a strong impact at his new club.
