EXCLUSIVE: Kotoko Target Former GFA Vice President George Afriyie As New CEO

Asante Kotoko SC have begun steps to restructure their leadership ahead of the upcoming season, with the club’s newly formed Board of Directors opening discussions with George Afriyie over the vacant Chief Executive Officer (CEO) position.

The Kumasi-based giants are seeking to strengthen their administrative structure as part of efforts to reposition the club for improved performance both on and off the pitch. As part of this process, the board has identified Afriyie as one of the key figures capable of taking up the role.

Afriyie, a former Vice President of the Ghana Football Association, is widely known for his vast experience in football administration and governance. His potential appointment is believed to be under serious consideration as Kotoko look to bring experienced leadership to the club’s top executive office.

Sources close to the club indicate that initial discussions between the board and the seasoned football administrator have already taken place, although no final decision has yet been reached.

The Porcupine Warriors are expected to finalize the appointment of a new CEO before the start of the 2026/27 football season, as the club aims to stabilize its management structure and chart a clear direction for the future.
