GFA in Talks with Asante Kotoko Over Samba O’Neil’s Potential Nationality Switch Ahead of 2026 World Cup

According to reports from Kessben FM Sports, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has opened discussions with Asante Kotoko regarding the possible nationality switch of defender Samba O’Neil to represent Ghana.

The initiative forms part of the GFA’s broader strategy to strengthen the Black Stars squad ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Samba O’Neil, who has been in impressive form for the Porcupine Warriors, is seen as a valuable addition due to his versatility, physical presence, and growing influence in the Ghana Premier League.

Asante Kotoko are said to be cooperating fully with the GFA as talks progress. If completed, the switch would make O’Neil eligible for selection in Ghana’s upcoming international assignments leading to the World Cup.

More updates are expected as discussions advance.
