Kotoko Push for Baba Yara Stadium Approval as CAF Agrees to Inspection
Asante Kotoko SC have taken steps to ensure that their upcoming CAF Confederation Cup home matches are staged at their traditional grounds, the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.
The Porcupine Warriors officially wrote to the Ghana Football Association (GFA), requesting the football governing body to forward their appeal to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for consideration.
In response, the GFA directed Kotoko to submit the request directly to CAF, which the club duly complied with. Following this, CAF has accepted to send an inspector to Kumasi to conduct a thorough inspection of the Baba Yara Stadium to determine its suitability for hosting Confederation Cup games.
Kotoko, in a show of commitment, have agreed to bear all the expenses involved in facilitating the CAF inspection exercise.
The club remains optimistic that the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, which has hosted numerous international and continental matches in the past, will be cleared to serve as their home venue in the continental campaign.
This move comes as Kotoko seek to capitalize on their strong home support base in Kumasi to make a significant impact in the CAF Confederation Cup.
