Match Report: Heart of Lions Hold Asante Kotoko to Goalless Draw in Kumasi

Heart of Lions put up a spirited performance to hold Asante Kotoko to a goalless draw at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi in a highly entertaining Ghana Premier League Week 4 encounter on Sunday.

The Porcupine Warriors dominated large spells of the game, creating several scoring opportunities but were left frustrated by a resolute Heart of Lions defence and some wasteful finishing in front of goal.

Kotoko came closest to breaking the deadlock in the second half when forward Albert Amoah produced a brilliant overhead kick inside the box, only for the ball to crash against the crossbar to the relief of the visitors.

Despite the introduction of fresh legs by coach Abdul Karim Zito in the closing stages, the hosts could not find a way past the stubborn Lions backline, who remained compact and disciplined throughout the 90 minutes.

The result means Asante Kotoko remain unbeaten at home this season but will be disappointed not to have secured maximum points. Heart of Lions, on the other hand, will take great confidence from the draw after securing a valuable away point against one of the league’s top sides.

Full Time: Asante Kotoko 0–0 Heart of Lions
