Asante Kotoko Set for Major Administrative Overhaul with New Board to Be Named After Season
Ghana Premier League giants Asante Kotoko are set to constitute a new Board of Directors at the end of the ongoing season, following crucial discussions between the club’s Interim Management Committee (IMC) and the Manhyia Palace.
The meeting, which reportedly took place yesterday, involved members of the IMC and the Manhyia Chief of Staff, Nana Kofi Boadu. The engagement is understood to have centered on the long-term structural direction of the club and the need to restore strong governance at board level.
Since the end of Dr. Kwame Kyei’s administration three years ago, Kotoko have operated without a substantive board, relying instead on interim structures to steer the affairs of the club. While the IMC has managed day-to-day operations, many supporters and stakeholders have consistently called for the formation of a permanent board to provide stability, strategic leadership, and clear vision.
Sources close to the discussions indicate that the Otumfuo-led administration is keen on reshaping the club’s governance framework to reflect professionalism, transparency, and sustainable growth. The anticipated new board is expected to play a pivotal role in redefining Kotoko’s sporting ambitions, commercial drive, and overall brand positioning both locally and on the continental stage.
The reconstitution of the board is also seen as a significant step toward changing the face of the club after a transitional period marked by administrative adjustments. Supporters will be hoping that the new leadership structure can usher in renewed success and help restore Kotoko to the summit of Ghanaian and African football.
An official announcement on the composition of the new board is expected once the season concludes.
