“We Didn’t Take Our Chances” – Samuel Boadu Admits After Kotoko Edge Chelsea in Opener
Berekum Chelsea head coach Samuel Boadu has applauded Asante Kotoko following their 1-0 victory over his side in the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League opener at the Golden City Park.
The Porcupine Warriors secured all three points thanks to Albert Amoah’s decisive strike, a goal that not only sealed the win but also ended Chelsea’s remarkable 15-year home invincibility in the league.
Speaking after the match, Coach Boadu showed humility in defeat and praised Kotoko for their performance.
"Congratulations to Asante Kotoko. We didn't take our chances in the first half. I apologize to all Berekum Chelsea fans for the result," he said in his post-match interview.
Despite creating several opportunities, Berekum Chelsea were wasteful in front of goal, and Kotoko’s resilience ultimately proved the difference. Boadu admitted that his side must improve their efficiency if they are to challenge strongly this season.
The defeat is a disappointing start for the Berekum-based side, but Boadu remains hopeful that his team will bounce back in the coming weeks.
Asante Kotoko, on the other hand, will be buoyed by their hard-fought win away from home as they look to mount a strong title challenge this campaign.
