Former Hearts of Oak Star Salifu Ibrahim Switches Nationality to Benin
Former Accra Hearts of Oak playmaker Salifu Ibrahim, who currently plays in Kosovo for FC Drita, has officially agreed to switch his nationality from Ghana to Benin.
The talented midfielder, who rose to prominence during his time with Hearts of Oak, is set to represent the Squirrels of Benin in international competitions after completing the nationality switch process.
Reports indicate that the Benin Football Federation has been monitoring Salifu’s progress in Europe and successfully convinced him to commit his international future to the West African nation.
Salifu is expected to be named in Benin’s provisional squad for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) to be staged in Morocco next year. His creativity, vision, and set-piece ability are seen as valuable assets that could bolster the Squirrels’ attacking options.
Salifu Ibrahim enjoyed a successful spell with Accra Hearts of Oak, winning the Ghana Premier League and FA Cup double before securing a move abroad. His decision to represent Benin marks a new chapter in his football journey and could provide him with a fresh opportunity to shine on the continental stage.
