GFA Awards Three Points to Clubs After Nsoatreman FC’s Withdrawal from GPL

Clubs scheduled to face Nsoatreman FC in the Ghana Premier League will be awarded three points and three goals following the club’s withdrawal from the competition.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) confirmed this decision after activating Article 13(5) of its competition regulations.

The rule states that when a club withdraws after the league has commenced, all remaining fixtures involving the team will be considered forfeited, with their opponents automatically receiving three points and three goals.

Nsoatreman FC’s decision to pull out of the league was officially communicated to the GFA on March 14, 2025, citing security concerns.

Their withdrawal comes in the wake of unrest surrounding their controversial clash with Asante Kotoko in February, which resulted in the tragic death of a fan and subsequent arrests, including that of club owner Ignatius Baffuor Awuah.

Despite security reforms following a month-long league suspension, Nsoatreman reported another attack while traveling to face Samartex, prompting their decision to exit the league entirely. The GFA has referred the case to its Prosecutor, and disciplinary proceedings are set

 to follow.
