Ghana FA Charges Hearts of Oak and Hussein Mohammed After Chaotic Super Clash

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has officially charged Accra Hearts of Oak and their midfielder Hussein Mohammed following a chaotic end to their Super Clash defeat against Asante Kotoko.

The decision comes after a video circulating on social media showed Hussein Mohammed attempting to confront the match officials moments after the final whistle at the Accra Sports Stadium. The player was reportedly angered by several officiating decisions during the game but was swiftly restrained by police officers and teammates before any physical contact occurred.

According to the GFA’s Disciplinary Committee, the Phobians have been charged with failing to control their players and officials, a breach of Article 16(1)(a) of the GFA Disciplinary Code. Hussein Mohammed also faces a separate misconduct charge for his unsporting behavior, which the FA described as bringing the game into disrepute.

Hearts of Oak have been given 72 hours to respond to the charges, while the player could face a suspension or fine if found guilty. The GFA further warned that it will not tolerate acts that threaten the safety of match officials and undermine the integrity of the league.

The Super Clash, which ended 1-0 in favor of Asante Kotoko courtesy of a Morifing Donzo penalty, has since dominated headlines for the wrong reasons, with growing calls for stronger disciplinary measures to restore decorum in Ghanaian football.
