Ghana’s Elite Football Academy Thrashes Malaysia’s Klang City Sailors 5-1 in Historic Friendly
Ghana’s Elite Football Academy delivered a commanding performance on Thursday as they cruised to a 5-1 victory over Malaysia’s Klang City Sailors in a historic international friendly encounter.
The much-anticipated match, played under floodlights, marked the first-ever meeting between the two sides and lived up to expectations, especially for the home fans, who were treated to a football masterclass by the young Ghanaian talents.
Elite’s star forward, Samuel Newton, was the standout performer of the evening, netting a stunning hat-trick that left the Malaysian defense helpless. Newton opened the scoring early in the first half and added two more after the break to complete his treble.
Aminu Zakarya and Bright Adom also got their names on the scoresheet, with each contributing a goal to seal the dominant win for the Ghanaian side.
Klang City Sailors managed to pull one back late in the second half, but it proved to be only a consolation as Elite controlled the game from start to finish.
The emphatic victory not only highlighted the technical prowess and attacking depth of the Elite Football Academy but also served as a symbol of Ghana’s growing influence in youth football on the international stage.
Officials from both clubs hailed the friendly as a step toward stronger football relations between Africa and Asia, with plans already underway for future engagements.
