Gold Stars Sack Coach Frimpong Manso After CAF Champions League Exit Blow
Bibiani Gold Stars have parted ways with head coach Frimpong Manso following their 2-0 defeat to Algerian giants JS Kabylie in the first leg of the CAF Champions League preliminary round.
The club made the decision shortly after the disappointing loss, which left their qualification hopes hanging by a thread. Manso, who guided the team into Africa’s elite inter-club competition for the first time, will not be on the bench when Gold Stars travel to Algeria for the return leg.
Club sources indicate that management felt a change was necessary to revive the team’s confidence and give them a fighting chance in the second leg.
Manso’s departure ends his tenure abruptly, despite playing a pivotal role in steering the club into continental football.
Gold Stars will now look to name an interim coach as they prepare for the crucial decider in Algeria.
