Karim Zito Fires Back at Media Pressure Over Injury Concerns
Asante Kotoko head coach Karim Zito has taken a swipe at sections of the media following persistent questions over his team’s injury situation, insisting that the scrutiny he faces is unfair compared to that of top European coaches.
Speaking at his post-match press conference, Zito expressed frustration at doubts surrounding his explanations, particularly regarding the number of injured players in his squad.
“Some of you in the media are putting pressure on me,” Zito said. “If Guardiola tells you that Rodri is injured, you’ll say it is okay. But if Karim Zito tells you that 13 players are injured, you say it is not okay. Well, it is between you and your God.”
The Kotoko trainer stressed that injuries are part of football and should be treated with the same level of understanding, regardless of the league or the coach involved. He hinted that the constant skepticism creates unnecessary pressure and distracts from the real challenges teams face during a congested season.
Despite the setbacks, Zito maintained that he remains focused on managing the squad responsibly and guiding Asante Kotoko through the demanding Ghana Premier League campaign.
His comments underline growing tensions between coaches and the media, as expectations continue to rise around one of Ghana’s most successful clubs.
