President Mahama Approves Establishment of National Sports Fund – Sports Minister Kofi Adams

The Minister of Youth and Sports, Hon. Kofi Adams, has revealed that former President John Dramani Mahama, through cabinet approval, has given the green light for the establishment of a National Sports Fund.

According to the Minister, the move is part of the National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s broader vision to transform and invest in the country’s sports sector. The fund, once operational, will provide sustainable financial support for the development of various sporting disciplines across Ghana.

“This decision by President Mahama and the cabinet is a major step toward securing long-term funding for sports in Ghana,” Hon. Adams stated. “It reflects our commitment to not only football but also to athletics, boxing, and all other sports disciplines that continue to raise Ghana’s flag high on the international stage.”

The Sports Fund is expected to support infrastructure development, athlete welfare, talent identification, and grassroots programs nationwide.

More details about the structure and implementation of the fund will be announced in the coming weeks.
