The Ministry of Sports and Recreation, on behalf of the Government of Ghana, has extended a heartfelt congratulatory message to the national armwrestling team, the Golden Arms, following their remarkable performance at the 14th Africa Armwrestling Championship held in Abuja, Nigeria.

In a statement signed by the Minister for Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Iddie Adams, dated 27th July 2025, the team was praised for winning an impressive 53 medals — comprising 24 gold, 20 silver, and 9 bronze. This stellar achievement cements Ghana’s dominance on the continental armwrestling stage and highlights the country’s growing reputation in the sport.

According to the Minister, the victory is a result of years of dedicated grassroots investment by the Ghana Armwrestling Federation, alongside disciplined athlete development and strong collaboration with public and private sector partners. These joint efforts have made armwrestling one of Ghana’s most consistent medal-producing sports and a source of national pride.

He further acknowledged the invaluable support from corporate and public-sector institutions in areas such as health, insurance, logistics, and athlete preparation, emphasizing that their contributions were pivotal to the team’s readiness.

Looking ahead, Hon. Adams assured the Golden Arms and the Federation of the Government’s continued technical and logistical support as they prepare for the 2027 African Games and other international competitions.

"The story of the Golden Arms is inspiring," the Minister noted, urging all stakeholders to celebrate the team’s triumph and harness the collective energy for future sporting success.

This recognition not only celebrates the team’s extraordinary achievement but also reinforces the government’s commitment to developing and supporting sports excellence across the country.
