Breaking:Mahama Orders Forensic Probe into 13th African Games Over Alleged Irregularities

President John Dramani Mahama has ordered an immediate forensic investigation into the organization of the 13th African Games hosted in Ghana earlier this year.

The directive follows the submission of a detailed report by the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB), which reportedly raised concerns over aspects of the Games, including procurement processes, contract awards, and infrastructural projects executed for the continental event.

According to the directive, the Auditor-General has been tasked to commence a comprehensive investigation into the matter, focusing on possible financial and administrative irregularities that may have occurred during the planning and execution of the Games.

President Mahama expects the final report from the Auditor-General by the second week of December 2025.

The 13th African Games, which took place in Accra, was one of Ghana’s largest sporting events in recent years, drawing athletes from across the continent. However, post-event reports have raised concerns over alleged mismanagement and cost overruns, prompting the President’s intervention.
