Samba O’Neil’s 90+7 Penalty Seals Late Win for Asante Kotoko

Asante Kotoko left it late but ultimately secured a hard-fought 2–1 victory over Young Apostles in their Matchday 6 outstanding fixture, thanks to a dramatic stoppage-time winner at the Baba Yara Stadium.

The Porcupine Warriors broke the deadlock in the 51st minute through Hubert Gyau, who finished off a well-crafted team move to give the hosts a deserved lead. However, the advantage lasted barely a minute as former Kotoko forward Richmond Opoku struck immediately for Young Apostles, capitalising on a defensive lapse to level the score.

With the game heading towards a draw, Kotoko kept pushing and were rewarded deep into added time. Captain Samba O’Neil showed nerves of steel in the 90+7th minute, expertly converting a penalty to hand Kotoko all three points and send the home fans into wild celebration.

The win gives Asante Kotoko a crucial boost as they continue their chase for momentum in the campaign.
