2026 World Cup Qualifiers Lineup: Black Stars Set for Crucial Clash Against Chad
The Black Stars of Ghana will be gunning for another crucial victory this afternoon when they face Chad in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers at the Stade Olympique Maréchal Idriss Déby Itno.
Ghana head coach Otto Addo is expected to name a strong side, with a 4-2-3-1 formation likely to be deployed as the team looks to maintain their impressive run in the campaign. The Black Stars have won five of their six matches so far and currently top the group with 15 points.
Hearts of Oak shot-stopper Benjamin Asare is set to keep his place in goal after consistent displays, while debutant Caleb Yirenkyi may start at right-back, with Gideon Mensah occupying the left side of defense. In the heart of the backline, Mohammed Salisu is expected to partner Jonas Adjetey in the absence of Alexander Djiku.
In midfield, Elisha Owusu is tipped to provide the defensive shield, with Thomas Partey offering his experience and box-to-box ability. Mohammed Kudus will take up the creative role in the No.10 position, pulling the strings in attack.
The flanks will see the pace and trickery of Antoine Semenyo on the right and Kamaldeen Sulemana on the left, both tasked with supplying support to Jordan Ayew, who is expected to lead the line.
Chad, who are yet to pick up a point in the qualifiers, will be aiming to cause an upset, but the Black Stars remain favorites heading into the tie. A win today would further cement Ghana’s qualification hopes.
The game kicks off at 13:00 GMT and will be broadcast live on GTV, GTV Sports+ and SuperSport 227.
