Ministry of Sports and Recreation Demands Apology from Multimedia Over False Quote Attributed to Minister Kofi Adams

The Ministry of Sports and Recreation has issued a formal statement demanding an immediate withdrawal and public apology from the Multimedia Group over what it describes as a fabricated and misleading publication attributed to the sector minister, Hon. Kofi Idrris Adams.

According to the Ministry, the alleged quote—“I will be involved in Black Stars World Cup call-ups, and selections will depend purely on merit and performance”—was never made by the Minister during any of his media engagements, including his appearance on Asempa FM’s Ultimate Sports Show.

In a letter dated October 14, 2025, signed by Bagbara Tanko, Head of Public Relations and Communications, the Ministry expressed concern over what it called a “pattern of consistent misquoting, twisting of context, and deliberate misinformation” by some Multimedia platforms such as Adom TV, Adom Online, Joy Sports, Asempa FM, and Hitz FM.

The statement further noted that such repeated inaccuracies have unfairly tainted public perception, stirred unnecessary controversy, and undermined the Ministry’s credibility.

The Ministry has therefore requested three immediate actions:

1. Unconditional withdrawal of all false content from all Multimedia platforms.

2. An official public apology to be published across all Multimedia’s major channels and social media pages.

3. An internal review of editorial processes to prevent future misreporting.

The Ministry emphasized the importance of responsible journalism, urging media houses to verify facts, uphold the truth, and correct errors swiftly and publicly.

The Ministry expects the Multimedia Group to comply with these demands by the close of business on October 14, 2025.
