MLS Sports Management Files Defamation Complaint Against Asante Kotoko at GFA
MLS Sports Management has officially petitioned the Ghana Football Federation (GFA) over what it describes as defamatory allegations made against professional footballer Joseph Ablorh by Asante Kotoko Sporting Club.
In a formal letter dated January 05, 2025, addressed to the President of the GFA, MLS Sports Management, through its CEO Mohamed Lamine Soumah, accused the Kumasi-based club of making unfounded accusations without evidence, actions which the agency says have seriously damaged the player’s reputation and professional integrity.
According to the letter, the alleged defamatory claims began on December 24, 2025, with Asante Kotoko reportedly failing to provide any proof to support the accusations against the player.
MLS Sports Management revealed that efforts were made to resolve the matter amicably through discussions conducted via WhatsApp, involving Mr. Richard, identified as a club administrator of Asante Kotoko, as well as the player’s legal representatives. However, the talks failed to produce an agreement, particularly concerning the termination of the player’s current contract.
The management agency has therefore called on the Ghana Football Federation to urgently investigate the matter and demand that Asante Kotoko presents evidence to substantiate its claims against Joseph Ablorh.
The letter further warns that if no evidence is provided, MLS Sports Management will be left with no option but to pursue legal action to protect the rights and interests of the player.
MLS Sports Management says it remains open to further discussions but insists that the player’s name and career must be protected from what it describes as damaging and unproven allegations.
