Say No to NSA Takeover at TNA Stadium — A Caution from the People of Tarkwa Nsuaem
By: Emmanuel Owu Jnr(Space fm Tarkwa)
The National Sports Authority (NSA) is once again attempting to take control of the TNA Stadium in Tarkwa — a move that has sparked renewed concerns among residents of Tarkwa Nsuaem.
This isn’t the first time the NSA has made such a move. During the tenure of Hon. George Mireku Duker as Member of Parliament and Hon. Gilbert Asmah Kessie as MCE, the people stood firm and resisted the takeover attempt. Now, under the current administration of Hon. Sheikh Issah Salifu Taylor as MP and Hon. Ebenezer Cobbinah as MCE, the same push has resurfaced.
But the people of Tarkwa Nsuaem are watching — and they are not sleeping.
Before the NSA considers any form of management or takeover of TNA Stadium, it is only fair that it addresses the long-standing issues affecting several government-owned sporting facilities across the country. The following national stadia are in desperate need of attention and rehabilitation:
Essipong Stadium – A modern facility left to rot.
Sekondi Gyandu Park – Once a hub of regional football, now neglected.
Baba Yara Stadium – Riddled with maintenance and facility challenges.
Accra Sports Stadium – Constantly undergoing patchy renovations without sustainable planning.
Tamale Sports Stadium – Struggling with infrastructure issues and poor management.
Until these pressing issues are resolved, the people of Tarkwa Nsuaem strongly believe the NSA has no moral or administrative justification to assume control of the well-maintained and efficiently managed TNA Stadium.
TNA Stadium stands today not because of politics, but because of a united community that values its development and purpose. Here in Tarkwa Nsuaem, when it comes to TNA Stadium, politics takes a back seat. We fight for one cause: the protection and progress of our cherished stadium.
Let it be clear — the people would rather see TNA Stadium dismantled by its own hands than see it mismanaged under the hands of an authority that has failed at so many others.
This is not a threat. It is a passionate plea and a firm warning. Our resolve is strong, and our unity is unwavering. TNA is a symbol of hope, pride, and community investment. It must not fall into wrong hands.
